Noel - Is There More To Life Than Dancing? (reprise)

As the Disco Delivery archives continue to grow, so too have the feedback and the re-upload requests. Lately, out of all of the Disco Deliveries, this particular album has been one of my most requested re-uploads.. Not counting all the requests I've gotten over the last several months, just last week I got two emails from two different people, both requesting this.. Given that the Noel entry is one of the entries which I'm most proud of, I figure there's no better time to do this than now...

Since the original posting, I've recently tweaked some of the text in the entry, as well as re-ripped all the tracks from the album, so hopefully if you downloaded it when I originally posted it, the sound will be slightly improved on these new rips. If you missed it the first time around, I hope you'll enjoy them. This album would definitely be a treat for those who enjoy the electronic Moroder-esque style of disco..

Anyway, by popular demand, here it is:

Disco Delivery #27: Noel - Is There More To Life Than Dancing? (1979, Virgin/Polygram)

Unfortunately, I haven't found any significant info on the enigmatic Noel since the original posting, but I must give kudos once again to the writers and producers - Ron and Russell Mael AKA Sparks for this awesome album!

I will always love this album, as I have since discovering it the first time you posted it. There isn't a lot of music that sounds joyous and celebrates being alive in the way those songs do. At least not these days.

Hay jmsweetie! No problem! :) Thanks again for the kind words - you really are a sweetie! :)

Hey anonymous - Thanks for the comment and the kind words as well - glad you like the music :) I know I oughta post more than I do sometimes, but I try to do the best that I can when I do, so thank you! :)

M.E. Grant - so glad you enjoy this album, I had the feeling you would :) I like your assessment, btw - well said! It's joyous, but in such a unique, original sort of way.. One of those records which floored me from the first listen and still continues to impress..
Anyway, thanks again for the comment! :)

I made some comments the first time around so no need to say more. This is an album worth re-discovering, it sure has a certain charm to it. And Noel is a well kept secret...
Nothing to do with this post but I got the new Ultra Nate album, very good one I think.

Barry Lederer - thanks for the comment! It's not every day that I have a disco pioneer leave a note here.. Anyway, I'm glad you like this record also.. I've read about your work/history on other disco sites, so I'm glad you know about mine.. :) Thanks again!

Hey Kenneth - thanks for the comment! :) Totally agreed.. The Noel LP is real gem of a record.. I'd love to see it on CD sometime; in full, clear digital glory.. Glad you like the new Ultra Nate too.. I have to say, the lady always delivers! It's been one of my most frequent listens these past couple of months.. Thanks again for the comments :)

The Night They Invented Love is one of my favorite tracks I've downloaded here. I wish it'd be ripped as a stand-alone track, but beggars can't be choosers. That song tacked onto the end of it has grown on me enough to be listenable at least, and it's thankfully short.

Love this...fell in love with it listening to it at the Lost and Found. I still remember looking in the DJ booth to see the name of the song and singer, white album, 12". Noel!! Found the album in NYC on a trip up there, 1979. I have this in my IPOD now...and it helps make a workout go by fast! Happy sounds and memories, thank you!!
